Rare Disease Platform application aims to serve as a guidance tool and reference point for patients or family members/friends hoping to understand a particular rare disease. The main objective of this application is to provide a user friendly platform for users.

 

Users have the ability to sign in as a patient or healthcare professional and communicate and share information online. Healthcare professionals can share important information in a blog post style and patients can read and comment on these posts. Furthermore, healthcare professionals and patients can chat privately.

 

The application is built using the Django framework with Python as the core programming language on the backend. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript was used to develop the applications front-end.

 

A Firebase database was created to store all news posts and user login credentials. The application is on Amazon Web Services using the S3 service.
