The project addresses the need to monitor packet transfers in a Data Acquisition Network.
Data Acquisition Networks use User Datagram Protocol to transfer data, this protocol does not send acknowledgments on receipt of a packet, therefore another mechanism is needed to ensure that all packets have been received.
Two of the more popular UDP packets used in the Flight Test Community are IENA, an Airbus Standard and i-NETx, an open standard, both of which transfer an incremental counter identifying the packets sequence within it's packet header. The sequence can be monitored for irregularities.
I am currently employed as an Applications Engineer for a company which supplies Data Acquisition systems within the Flight Test community.
Electronic Engineering background with several years experience working with networked products with companies such as IBM and 3COM.
Current position involves providing training courses to Engineers on Data Acquisition and providing support for Aircraft on Ground situations(AOG) on-site.
