The idea of implementing a Smart baby monitor using a Raspberry PI arose from my own experience as a new mother. Mothers and parents in general worry a lot for the safety and wellness of their babies and I wanted to improve on current devices in the market and give new parents a better option to choose from.
My idea is to design a mobile application in Android which will be used as a controller for the user over the baby's room conditions. The sensors that are connected to the Raspberry PI will read the temperature, humidity, sound and film the baby. It will automatically detect and notify the user, parent, babysitter of any abnormal activity happening in the baby's room.
This smart device will incorporate a few technologies, functionalities and implemented features. Its main objective is giving parents a new and innovated option over the current options in the market. This smart baby monitor is focused on usability and efficiency with zero tolerance of signal problems as the accessibility from this device will be 24/7 for 365 days per year.
