Developed a dashboard for monitoring blood samples in a hospital laboratory. The project was specially designed for use in Tallaght hospital's laboratory, where it is currently being implemented. The dashboard improves the functionality of the CliniSys Laboratory Information System (LIS) used in many Irish Laboratories.
Laboratories across Ireland do not have any systems for alerting staff when a blood sample has been delayed. This missing feature is very important for laboratories to work efficiently. Designed using Java Swing, the dashboard addresses these issues by alerting users of delays.
The dashboards allows users to edit the average outputted time of specific tests. Java methods are used to manage the time. Records of samples are stored in SQLite tables enabling laboratories to provide reports on Turn Around Times. The dashboard constantly updates these tables with new feeds of data.
